To help me better decide what my project will be, I've written a list of 25 questions:
- Is there a specific area of the population on want to focus on?
- What is the specific health-related issue I want to focus on? (CVD, Migraine, etc.)
- Will the people be cooperative or helpful with my project?
- What can I do to stay busy with my research?
- What will I spend most of my time doing?
- Will I be able to get any hands-on clinical experience?
- Could I include a Health Clinic or doctors’ office in my research experience?
- Exactly How specific does my project need to be?
- What kind of projects are my peers doing?
- What kind of health-related projects have gone before me?
- What kind of family will I be living with?
- Will they have children?
- Will my host family assist me in my research?
- What is the best way to become a part of the community?
- How do I get the people to feel comfortable with me?
- What are the specific roles of Tongan women? (Do I want to work exclusively with them?)
- Is there a special way to address my elders there?
- What kind of food will I be eating?
- Do I want to do a diet-related project?
- Will I find love in the arms of a large Polynesian man?
- Will there be any teaching opportunities? (Academic or gospel related)
- What will be the best way to collect and record my info? (Observation, interviews, surveys, etc.)
- Has there been any conclusive information about migraines specifically in Tonga?
- What kind of migraine medications are available to them?
- What defines a "slow, low-stress lifestyle"?
